Ironman Pro Series: New triathlon series with millions in prize money

Ironman has announced a new series for professional triathletes for next year. Two days before the Women’s World Cup in Hawaii this Saturday, the organizer published the plan for 2024.

In total, bonus prize money of 1.7 million US dollars – the equivalent of around 1.6 million euros – will be distributed at the end. The first and first can call themselves Ironman Pro Series champions and will each receive $200,000 (188,000 euros).

The series includes six Ironman races over the full distance of 3.86 kilometers of swimming, 180.2 kilometers of cycling and 42.2 kilometers of running, as well as nine so-called Ironman 70.3, which cover half the distance. In addition, there are the Ironman World Championships for men and women, which have been held separately in space and time since this year, as well as the 70.3 World Championships.

It starts in Oceanside on April 6th with a 70.3 race, the last race for the classification will be the 70.3 World Championship on December 14th and 15th, 2024 in Taupo, New Zealand. The women’s Ironman European Championships in Hamburg on June 2nd and the men’s Ironman European Championships in Frankfurt am Main on August 18th are also among the races in the new professional series.

For victories in races over the full distance there are 5000 points for the overall ranking, for a 70.3 success 2500. At the World Championships there are 6000 (Ironman) and 3000 (Ironman 70.3).

In the following places, one point is deducted for every second behind first place. The five best results of a professional are included in the overall ranking, including a maximum of three races over the full distance.
