Inferiority Accepted: Nanterre Coach Acknowledges Superiority of Paris Basketball

After the heavy defeat in the derby against Paris Basketball, Nanterre coach Pascal Donnadieu could only note the superiority of his opponent.

« We could have done a little better but you have to have the lucidity to recognize the superiority of your opponent. Tonight they showed why they were there. This is the team that I think could pose the most problems for Monaco.
There is disappointment, more from not having been up to the task and not having managed to tickle them than the defeat itself. We must have this ability to analyze the bad things we did tonight. We’ve had 8 days, Paris is not our championship but we have to stay in the same dynamic as recently.
They were superior in all areas: aggressiveness, address. We learned a lesson, we have to know how to accept it. We do not pretend, despite our good start, to be big names in this championship, but we can play the role of spoilsport.
We are competitors. When you take 30 points in a derby it doesn’t feel good. We need to analyze this quickly. We’re not going to encounter this type of team a lot in the championship.
We were clumsy, not very good, but today we came across someone much, much stronger than us! The only chance to beat them is when they are not connected, not too ready.

Today, we came across a very, very strong team. If we play them again tomorrow, we could do a little better but we play them 10 times, they beat us at least 9 times. We are going to use this match, more on an individual level with video feedback for the young players.
Today there are two very established teams, with great potential: Monaco and Paris. Paris also has a lot of resources, the third budget, the third payroll in the championship, they justify their status and that is to their credit. Yes, it’s the second force in the championship this evening. A quartet of teams stands out: Monaco-Paris-Bourg and ASVEL despite everything« .
