Surprise team Girona continues to shake up the Spanish Primera Division. The team from Catalonia didn’t let a 0-2 deficit bother them at home against bottom team Almeria in the 10th round on Sunday and won safely 5-2 (3-2).
FC Barcelona defeated Athletic Bilbao 1-0 (0-0) with a goal from 17-year-old Marc Guiu. In the table, Girona moved level with leaders Real Madrid (25), with Barca one point behind in third place.
Guiu’s dream debut at Barcelona
Guiu gave Barca an important three points on his professional debut. The teenager wasn’t on the pitch for a minute after being substituted on when he scored the winning goal (80th), making a dream debut.
League leaders Real failed to score more than a 1-1 draw on Saturday during David Alaba’s comeback after a four-week injury break at Sevilla FC. The Viennese scored an own goal.
