Gabriel Guillermo González, judoka from Parral, won the State Sports Award last week in the category of Best Coach, where he had a tie with Ernesto Reyna, who will be awarded on November 20, in a ceremony in the capital of Chihuahua. The Election of the State Sports Award was given in its thirty-first edition, with the Parralense being the winner in the coach category.

This athlete indicated that there have been more than 30 years of efforts, of constant preparation to stay in shape, where six years are spent as a coach, he mentioned that he follows a sports discipline and constant preparation courses, without forgetting a special diet that athletes who follow They practice this sport that has become popular among the population.

He indicated that in the city he is the fifth person from Parral to win the State Sports Award. In the category of Best Athlete, the awards have been won by the boxer Misael “el Chino” Rodríguez, the judoka Vanessa Zambotti and the soccer player Adrián Mora, as well as the judoka professor José Andrés Martínez in the category of best coach, this year 2023 as Best Coach the judoka Gabriel Guillermo González.

The winner of the award pointed out that in 1984 he began practicing Judo with Professor José Andrés Martínez. He is currently 46 years old and continues to prepare for competitions. He does not rule out going to Las Vegas next year for a championship. He has been competing for more than 30 years.

He considered that his greatest satisfaction is working with children, where he is currently training 150 of them in his private gym. He mentioned that this year at the Pan American Games four medals were won, two bronze and two silver. In the State Sports Award, for the Best Athlete category, there were 34 nominations, of which 5 candidates were from Parral; and in the Best Coach category, 10 candidates registered, where there was a tie for first place: Gabriel Guillermo González from Parral along with Ernesto Reyna Vázquez in the Boxing discipline.

Gabriel González indicated that he is the second Parralense to win this category, the first was the Judoka José Andrés Martínez, during the competition he was chosen as the winner. The formal presentation of the Award will take place on November 20 in the Red Room of the Government Palace, in a ceremony prior to the commemorative parade of the Mexican Revolution.
