LOS ANGELES — Las Vegas Raiders defensive lineman Jerry Tillery, a former first-round draft pick selected by the Los Angeles Chargers, was ejected after hitting Bolts quarterback Justin Herbert off the field.

With about nine minutes left in the second quarter of the game played at SoFi Stadium, Justin Herbert ran for a 3-yard gain and had already finished the play by stepping out of bounds when Jerry Tillery tackled him.

And as Raiders Pro Bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby, who was also chasing Justin Herbert, raised his hands in frustration, players on the Chargers bench surrounded Jerry Tillery.

“He’s lucky he got out of there alive,” former Raiders right tackle Lincoln Kennedy said during the official Las Vegas radio broadcast.

The 15-yard penalty allowed the Chargers to continue moving downfield; three plays later, Justin Herbert connected with Keenan Allen for a 7-yard touchdown.

Last December, also at SoFi Stadium, Jerry Tillery committed a penalty that kept the Los Angeles Rams’ winning drive alive when he snatched the ball from the hands of then-Rams quarterback Baker Mayfield after a capture, giving Los Angeles the first opportunity.

The Raiders claimed Jerry Tillery last November after he was released by the Chargers.
