Filip Misolic plays big in Stockholm
Very strong performance from Filip Misolic in Stockholm! The Styrian, who had to fight his way through qualification, sensationally beat eighth-seeded Dan Evans 6:4 and 7:6 (1) in the first round on Tuesday evening and thus moved into the round of 16. There Misolic will meet either Gael Monfils or Marton Fucsovics.
This continued Misolic’s good series in the Swedish capital. Because he had already beaten two unpleasant opponents in the qualification, Leandro Riedi and Liam Broady. A meeting with showman Monfils would certainly be a highlight for Misolic, who surprisingly reached the final at the Generali Open in Kitzbühel last year.
Evans is not the only seed who was caught in round one in Stockholm: Before that, Sebastian Baez was eliminated against JJ Wolf, Jiri Lehecka against Dino Prizmic and Christoper Eubanks against Pavel Kotov.
