FC Cologne Women’s Bundesliga Matches to be Broadcast on Mondays: A Special Advantage?

The women of 1. FC Cologne are currently in the middle of the table in the women’s Bundesliga with six points after five match days. The DFB has now scheduled matchdays 7 and 8. The fact that FC plays twice on Mondays has a very special advantage.

In general, games on the evening of the start of the week are rather unpopular, especially among fans. After violent protests, the kick-off time on Monday evening was abolished for men in 2021. These arrangements were particularly frustrating for working away travelers.

Two games on Monday evening for FC – exciting opponents

Since this season there have been Monday games in the women’s Bundesliga. The TV station Sport1 has secured the broadcast rights for this.

After the upcoming match days have been scheduled, it is now clear that two FC Women’s games will be broadcast on free TV in November. On November 13th, Cologne’s 7th matchday will be at home against TSG Hoffenheim (kick-off 7.30 p.m.).

The game is a real test for coach Daniel Weber’s (50) team. Hoffenheim is currently in second place in the table with eleven points from five games. Most recently, TSG played a draw (2:2) against Champions League finalists and league leaders Wolfsburg.

A week after the big game, FC will play away against SC Freiburg. This game will also be shown live on free TV by Sport1 on Monday evening (November 20th, kick-off 7:30 p.m.).

Promising encounter and audience development

This duel should be more of a level playing field. Freiburg is one place in the table behind Cologne (9) and suffered its second defeat of the season in the game against newly promoted Nuremberg (0:2) on matchday 5.

For the Geißbock ladies there will be Monday games number two and three, after losing 2-0 to FC Bayern Munich in the first Monday game of the season on matchday 2 (October 2nd).
