On Tuesday evening, FC Bayern struggled to a 2-1 win at FC Copenhagen in the second group game of the Champions League. Jamal Musiala and Mathys Tel turned the game in Munich’s favor after the underdog had previously taken the lead.

In purely sporting terms, the record champions prevented themselves from really getting out of step after the 2-2 draw at RB Leipzig and the associated loss of the Bundesliga table lead. Because in the premier class, FCB is in a good position after two wins from two games.

Off the pitch, however, the club delivers less positive headlines. Jérôme Boateng’s personality in particular is causing great dissatisfaction among fans and experts. The 35-year-old was sentenced to a total of 1.2 million euros in fines last year for attacks on his ex-girlfriend. The Bavarian Supreme Court recently overturned a conviction for bodily harm and insult, and the trial is now being reopened.

The rumors surrounding Max Eberl, who was fired from RB Leipzig due to a lack of commitment, also caused mixed reactions. With his move from Borussia Mönchengladbach to Saxony, the sports director had already made himself unpopular with his former club.

According to “Sport Bild”, it will not be clear until mid-November at the earliest whether Eberl, who began his professional career at FC Bayern, will return to Munich as sports director. Then the next meeting of the supervisory board is coming up.

FC Bayern: Does Max Eberl push Christoph Freund into the second row?

Until then, the club bosses first want to see how Christoph Freund gets along. The 46-year-old only took up his position as sports director in September. According to the report, it is unclear whether he will also be considered for a promotion to sports director in the future. Predecessor Hasan Salihamidžić, for example, held this role.

If Bayern were to bring in Eberl, he would undoubtedly be a strong man in the sporting field. Freund would then be in the second row, would be a helper, so to speak, like Rouven Schröder was for Eberl in Leipzig.

In any case, a job in Munich shouldn’t fail for the 50-year-old, he knew of Bayern’s fundamental interest even before he left Leipzig. And therefore did not fully acknowledge his support for RB publicly.

The Saxons drew the consequences from this, but consciously decided against terminating the contract. Because they also know that Munich is interested and are hoping for a hefty transfer fee. According to the report, this could be in the mid-single-digit million range.

RB Leipzig: Mario Gómez could follow Max Eberl

In Leipzig, on the other hand, a former Bayern star could benefit from Eberl’s farewell. Mario Gómez, currently technical director at Red Bull Soccer International, is said to have a good reputation internally.

In the future, he is seen as the ideal person for the position of sports director. It is unclear, however, whether the former attacker could imagine switching to everyday business in the near future. Schröder is likely to have sole responsibility for the sports sector at least until the end of the year.

Anyone who had hoped for improvement at FC Schalke after their second relegation within three seasons was quickly disappointed. The Royal Blues started the new season disastrously, losing five of their first eight games. With just seven points, S04 is in 16th place.
