SOMEREN – Fighting together with mom, dad, grandpa or grandma. That is the idea behind the ‘Mini-Maxi tournament’ of Badminton Club Someren. Last week, the family duos competed against each other again as usual: a great way for young people to show their parents and experience how fun (and difficult) badminton is.
The Mini-Maxi tournament is an annual event of Badminton Club Someren. Youth members will then have the opportunity to bring someone to play with. In addition to parents, grandfathers and grandmothers, this can also be brothers and sisters. “In this way, children can let their parents experience how fun and difficult badminton is,” says the club.
The number of points scored turned out to be decisive
Sports hall De Postel was therefore full again last Wednesday with family duos. The tournament started with a joint warm-up, after which the battle could begin. Matches were played on various fields and the atmosphere was often fanatical. The teams fought diligently for every point.
Two teams clearly stood out: they both managed to win four games. The two high flyers avoided each other and therefore could not measure the forces.
165 direct hits
Ultimately, the number of points scored was decisive. Brent and his father scored no fewer than 165 direct hits, more than Dylan and his father who scored 125 points. That is why the former duo was crowned the well-deserved winner of this edition of the Mini-Maxi tournament.
Try-out
The Badminton Club hopes to strengthen its membership base in November with some free tryouts. Interested parties can attend such a try-out on Wednesdays 1, 8, 15 and 22 November from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. These are intended for youth from 7 to 17 years old.
During the first three editions, young athletes are introduced to the sport through active exercises, the last edition is all about playing competitions.
