Eintracht Frankfurt women play 0-0 against FC Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich’s soccer players missed out on an important victory in their Bundesliga debut at the Allianz Arena. In the top game on the fourth matchday, the defending champions couldn’t get past a 0-0 draw against Champions League contenders Eintracht Frankfurt in a hard-fought game.

“The point is okay, in the end it was a classic 0-0 today,” said Frankfurt national player Laura Freigang at the ARD microphone. DFB colleague and Bayern striker Klara Bühl also saw this: “Frankfurt has an incredible mentality, they are always there. We were missing that. We have to take advantage of our chances.”

Bayern currently remain in third place with eight points. TSG Hoffenheim leads the league with ten points, VfL Wolfsburg (nine points) can take the lead again on Sunday at RB Leipzig. The ambitious Frankfurters, on the other hand, find themselves in eighth place with just one win from four games.

19,000 spectators – a Bundesliga record for Bayern – saw a weak game with few top-class opportunities on both sides. The women had only played three games in the Champions League at the Allianz Arena.

Werder Bremen had previously clearly put 1. FC Köln in their place in front of 21,508 spectators, also a club record. The Bremen women won 3-0 (1-0) with an own goal from Celina Degen (32nd) and goals from Lina Hausicke (83rd) and Melina Kunkel (90th + 3) and now, like FC, have six points from the first four games.
