Disappointment and Accusations: Athletes Speak Out after World Championship Experience

“We are very grateful that we had such a grand opportunity to compete in the world championship, but the attitude of “what else do you want?” spoiled the feeling of the holiday,” Jelena Ábele admits. “Usually, I don’t write anything on social networks, but when you give your heart out…” Artūrs Bareiķis agrees. “Other teams had joint activities, the athletes ate together, had the opportunity to attend massages. But our athletes said – it’s better not to go, maybe they will send an invoice and have to pay. Unfortunately, mentally we accept that we don’t owe anything.” Meanwhile, Ilona Marhele rests in reality, where the abilities of LVS have been known to everyone for a long time. “The young don’t want to talk about it so they don’t feel the consequences afterwards, but the old have already reconciled because they know what the situation is and that nothing can be achieved anyway.”

“From our side, we gave the opportunity to participate. I saw how much Ieva [Misāne] as a team leader, he tried and communicated with the athletes. Everything was provided for them. With the accreditation, they could also go to the hotel to eat. Therefore, the expressed accusations are out of place,” Dmitrijs Milkevičs is confident. He and team manager Ieva Misani are particularly hurt by one thing.
