Dirk Kuijt is about to revive his coaching career. The 104-time Dutch international is in negotiations with the Turkish Konyaspor, De Telegraaf reports.

Konyaspor finished ninth in the Süper Lig last season, but has started the new football year weakly. With only nine points from nine matches, the club is fifteenth in the Turkish league.

In Turkey, Kuijt can become the successor to Aleksandar Stanojevic. The Serbian coach was fired from Konyaspor after Saturday’s 1-2 defeat against Pendikspor.

Konyaspor’s player selection includes former Ajax player Robert Muric, who did not make it in Amsterdam. The Turkish club also has former Besiktas striker Gökhan Töre and Steven Nzonzi, who played for Sevilla and AS Roma, among others.

Kuijt was dismissed as coach of ADO Den Haag in November 2022 and has been without a club since then. The former right winger only lasted five months in the Hofstad. It was his first job as head coach, after previously working as a youth coach at Feyenoord for two years.

Kuijt could not get his team going at ADO and had to leave the field when the club was in seventeenth place in the Kitchen Champion Division.

As a player, Kuijt was active in Turkey for Fenerbahçe for many years. Between 2012 and 2015, the former striker made 130 appearances for the Turkish top club, producing 37 goals and 28 assists.
