Denver Nuggets Embrace Continuity and Develop Young Talent for Another Championship Run

The Denver Nuggets have opted for the continuity of the core that allowed them to win their first championship in history last June. However, that does not mean, by any means, that management and coaching staff are deeply involved in developing the new young people who have joined the team.

Julian Strawther, the 29th overall pick in the 2023 draft, is claiming minutes in Michael Malone’s rotation after signing a prominent role in the team’s preseason. In the three games he has played he averages 19.6 points, with a three-point success rate of 50% in 24 attempts. A performance that could be influenced by Jamal Murray’s role as the rookie’s mentor.

“I love his mentality,” Murray said, according to the outlet. DNVR Sports. «It doesn’t matter if he misses, scores, loses the ball or whatever. He is constantly aggressive, looking for his shot and playing at his own pace. “I’m just trying to keep him focused within the freedom of his game.”

The Nuggets have already given him some responsibility by placing him as the first player to come off the bench. Strawther was grateful for this Sixth Man role in the Colorado team’s last preseason meeting. «It’s crazy to be on the court with Nikola [Jokic] y Jamal [Murray], and that both of them are attentive to what I am doing. My job is ultimately to space the floor and score when I share the floor with those guys.”
