Danish Mixed Doubles Sensationally Advance to Second Round of French Open

The Danish mixed doubles in badminton with Mathias Thyrri and Amalie Magelund is sensationally ready for the second round of the French Open, which is a Super 750 tournament.

The Danish badminton duo defeated the defending world champions from South Korea, Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yoo-jung, in the first round.

The Danish victory figures were 19-21, 21-19, 21-11.

The Danes were already well in the first set, but had to see themselves beaten in the end.

In the second set, the Danes were dominated from the start and came out ahead with a whopping 13-4. Still, the set ended up being exciting as the South Koreans made it 19-20 before the second set point was taken advantage of.

In the third set, the Danes got off to a good start again with a lead of 4-0, but the opponents answered back and came in front 9-8.

From there, Danish dominance was decided, and Thyrri and Magelund won nine of the next ten balls, and they drove home the victory safely.

The Danish pair are number 22 in the world rankings, while the world champions are in fourth place.

In men’s singles, Anders Antonsen won his first match on Tuesday. Viktor Axelsen’s first match is scheduled for Wednesday.

In women’s singles, Line Christophersen and Line Kjærsfeldt both lost in the first round.

The Danish men’s doubles team with Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen has shown great form for several months and progressed relatively easily to the second round.

Mads Vestergaard/Daniel Lundgaard also advanced and will now face the top-seeded pair from Indonesia, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Adrianto.

In contrast, the women’s doubles with Maiken Fruergaard and Sara Thygesen is finished after one match. So is Mia Blichfeldt, who lost to Thai Supanida Katethong.
