Czech Tennis Players Siniaková and Krejčíková Reach Singles Finals on WTA Circuit

Two Czech tennis players will play the singles final on the WTA circuit on Sunday. Kateřina Siniaková advanced to the finals of the tournament in Hong Kong for the second time this season and is fighting for her second singles title this year and fifth overall. The 27-year-old Czech player defeated sixth-seeded Italian Martina Trevisanová in the semifinals in an hour and a half 6:4, 6:2. After her, Barbora Krejčíková also succeeded in Zhengzhou, China.

Tennis player Barbora Krejčíková is in the finals of the WTA tournament for the fourth time this year. The seventh-seeded Czech player defeated Darja Kasatkinová 6:3, 6:0 in the semifinals of the tournament in Zhengzhou, Russia, and she will face the home player Cheng Chin-wen for the eighth title in her career. He can triumph for the third time this year.

Twenty-seven-year-old Krejčíková defeated Kasatkinová for the third time in the fourth match between them. She followed up on the February duel in Dubai, where she defeated Russia in three sets and then went on to win the title at the tournament. She won her second trophy this year in San Diego in September.

The semi-final duel was a tough fight at first, in the second game of the first set the players fought through an incredible twelve matches. The tug-of-war surprisingly ended with a score of 4:3 after 53 minutes of fighting, when the Czech got treatment for blisters on her leg. From that moment on, Russia completely crumbled and did not even play a game.

“I have no idea what happened at 4:3, I don’t know what it was about,” said the Czech tennis player after the match.

The 21-year-old Zheng Qiwen will face the 2021 Roland Garros champion for the first time in her career. The Chinese eliminated the Italian Jasmine Paolini 6:2, 6:3 in the semifinals and will play in the third final. He has only one title to his credit so far.

Siniaková will try to build on her July triumph on grass in Bad Homburg on Sunday. Her opponent will be 21-year-old Canadian Leylah Fernandez.

Last year’s US Open finalist, who knocked out Linda Fruhvirtova in the quarterfinals, advanced to the fight for the title after a 6:2, 7:5 win over the tournament’s fifth seed Anna Blinkova from Russia.

Bouzková in the doubles final

Marie Bouzková advanced to the doubles final with the American Bethania Matteková-Sands at the tournament in Seoul. The Czech player can follow up on the title from Beijing, where she triumphed alongside the Spaniard Sara Sorribesová a week ago.

The second-seeded Czech-American couple defeated the tournament trio of Russia’s Irina Khromacheva and Taiwan’s Wu Fang-hsien smoothly 6:3, 6:1 in the semi-finals in the Korean capital. On Sunday, Bouzková and Matteková-Sands will face thirty-year-old Thai tennis players Luksika Kumkchumová and Peangtarn Plipuečová.

Bouzková, alongside the former world number one, will strive for the fifth doubles title in her career and the second in the season.

In singles, the 25-year-old Czech tennis player was eliminated in the quarterfinals in Seoul by China’s Yuan Jüe, who surprisingly reached her first singles final. The 25-year-old player, who is ranked 128th in the world, defeated American Emina Bektas 6:7, 6:4, 6:2 in the semifinals today.
