Big party yesterday for the centenarian Palmira Cesaro, resident with her family in the Bellavista neighborhood of Campoleone. She was born in Tarzo (Treviso) on 20 October 1923, she arrived in Aprilia and then in Lanuvio with her entire family before the Second World War. Palmira was a young girl of just 16 years old. She married Italo Mion Italo in 1945, with whom she had three children, Oscar in 1946, Tosca in 1950 and Evasio in 1954.

Palmira, in the pre-colonial period, was among the platoon of 33 young girls who also took the tractor driving course, wearing a khaki skirt and colonial helmet. The Aprilian costume was worn by 5 young Italian girls, called the “RONDINELLE”, as were the swallows reproduced in the Municipal Banner of Aprilia, among them there was Palmyra.

During the Second World War 1939/1945, the family unit from Palmira was displaced to Calabria in the municipality of San Giovanni in Fiore. And they returned to Aprilia-Lanuvio only at the end of the war, where they still live in the Bellavista neighborhood on the border between the two municipalities on Via Nettunense.

Yesterday Mrs. Palmira turned 100 years old and was celebrated by her family, grandchildren and friends. Also present at the party were the deputy mayor of Lanuvio Valeria Viglietti, the councilors Veronica Proscio and Simone Santilli. While still in Lanuvio on 26 October, Agnese Pompei (grandmother of the well-known Lanuvian citizen Tonino De Caterini) will also reach this milestone of 100 years. The fresh air, the genuine and good food and wine of the area, together with the great love towards the elderly; it has generated a truly great population of centenarians not only in Lanuvio but also in all the Castelli Romani where there are many of them.
