Borussia Dortmund Imposes Fine on Ramy Bensebaini After Red Card Indiscipline

With his yellow-red card in the guest appearance at 1899 Hoffenheim, Ramy Bensebaini caused a lot of nervousness at Borussia Dortmund at the weekend. Now BVB has apparently imposed a penalty on the defender.

As “Sport1” journalist Patrick Berger reports in the podcast “Die Dortmund-Woche”, the Algerian has to pay 5,000 euros into the team’s coffers after his expulsion.

The ex-Gladbacher’s annual salary is now between five and six million euros, says Berger. The punishment for the red offender shouldn’t be too painful.

On Friday, when the score was 2-1, Bensebaini chipped the ball away from Hoffenheim’s coach Pellegrino Matarazzo on the sideline. which prevented TSG from being able to throw the ball in quickly. Referee Florian Badstübner showed the BVB newcomer the traffic light card in the 71st minute.

After the game, coach Edin Terzic complained about the referee’s lack of “tact”. Nevertheless, he also criticized his protégé. “It’s completely our own fault. It happened, but it shouldn’t happen again and we have to learn from it,” said the coach.

Bensebaini has almost no alternative at BVB

Sports director Sebastian Kehl made similar comments in the mixed zone. “If you have a yellow card, you have to be a little more careful in the situation. Whether you have to give it in the end is something that can be discussed. But we won’t deny that you can give it. Ramy knows he has to “We should behave more cleverly,” criticized the former BVB captain.

Bensebaini hardly has to fear any sporting consequences after being sent off. Ultimately, Dortmund were able to secure the win even with ten men and even extended it in stoppage time with Julian Ryerson’s solo goal.

At the same time, the defensive flanks are so thinly staffed that there are hardly any alternative personnel. Bensebaini could therefore be involved again in the Champions League against AC Milan (9 p.m.) on Wednesday evening.
