Goalkeeper Gregor Kobel has extended his contract with Borussia Dortmund. The 25-year-old’s contact, which was previously valid until 2026, has been extended to June 30, 2028, as the Bundesliga club announced on Thursday. “BILD” had previously reported on this.
“Gregor has developed into a world-class goalkeeper for us in Dortmund,” said BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl. “We are proud that we were able to inspire him for our goals and ambitions at BVB in the long term and that we now have planning security at the highest level in this important position.”
Role model between the posts
Kobel, who moved from VfB Stuttgart to BVB in 2021, is one of the top performers at the Revierklub. The Swiss international is also vice-captain behind Emre Can in Dortmund.

“This team has the potential to win titles if each individual works hard,” said Kobel. “On this path, in the next few years I want to be one of the players in our squad who move forward every day so that at some point we can celebrate something big together.” Last season, BVB only lost the German championship on the last matchday.
