However, his recent results have been disappointing, falling in his debut in four of the last five tournaments he has played.

Boris Becker guilty of several financial crimes

In 2022, Becker served eight of the 30 months he received for violating bankruptcy laws by hiding assets worth $3.1 million to avoid paying his debts. He was extradited to Germany in December.

The jury considered it proven that he hid assets and loans worth about 3.5 million pounds (about 4 million euros) to avoid paying his debts, which amount to about 50 million pounds (60 million euros).

After hearing Judge Deborah Taylor’s ruling, Becker was taken to the court cells to begin his sentence. In announcing his decision, the judge reproached the athlete for not learning his lesson after receiving a suspended prison sentence in Germany in 2002, which has been considered “a significant aggravating factor” in this case.
