Beware of Impersonators: Elderly Residents in Meerbusch and Kaarst Fall Victim to Robbery

On Tuesday (October 24th) an unknown man in Meerbusch posed as an employee of a telecommunications company. The alleged suspect rang the doorbell of an elderly lady around 11:30 a.m. and stated that he had to take measurements in the house. The senior citizen opened the door. The unknown man ran through the house and stole jewelry, cash and gold coins. He then left the house. A witness saw him driving away in a small white car. The man can be estimated to be around 170 to 180 centimeters tall, he should be between 40 and 45 years old, have a strong build and short brown hair.

A fake waterworksman rang the doorbell for an 86-year-old lady in Kaarst on Tuesday (October 24th) around 10:45 a.m. He stated that sewer work was being carried out and he had to turn off the water to do this. According to initial findings, he stole jewelry and left the house. The alleged suspect is said to be around 30 years old, around 175 centimeters tall and spoke German without an accent. He is described as slim and wearing blue sports shoes, dark clothing, like a mechanic and a baseball cap with a light brim and a three-day beard.

Criminal Investigation Department 12 has started the investigation.
