As part of preparations for qualification for the next Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the Badminton World Federation (BWF) in partnership with the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) organized from October 17 to 21, 2023 in Cairo, Egypt. A technical strengthening workshop for the benefit of para-badminton players from African countries to allow them to maximize their chance of qualifying for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Like other African countries, two (02) para-badists represent Benin. They are the African vice-champion in the class (SU5), Amandine Morènike Oloukou and the African Champion in (SH6) Edagrd Hounkpe. Having left Cotonou on October 15, these two worthy Beninese representatives joined the group and according to our information, they are doing very well. In addition, fifteen (15) representatives of National Federations and National Paralympic Committees took part in the various workshops. Alongside the workshop, an administration course and a BWF level 2 para-badminton coaching course are also organized.

Note that the participation of Beninese athletes is made possible thanks to the combined actions of the Beninese Badminton Federation (Fbba) and that of the Benin Handisports Federation. “It is time to thank the World Badminton Federation, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), without forgetting the Egyptian Badminton Federation and the African Badminton Confederation for their numerous efforts in the service of the development of para-badminton in Africa” , confides a member of the Fbba.
