The European Senior Badminton Championships will be held in August 2024 at the Heusden-Zolder Vélodrome. The European federation made it official Monday evening. No less than 1,300 participants from all over Europe are expected in Limburg next year. This will be the first time that such a tournament will be organized in Belgium.
The organization of Euro 2024 was initially awarded to Croatia, but it was canceled because the construction of the new venue would not be ready in time. Badminton Europe has therefore relaunched the call for tenders. Belgium will recover the tournament. The contract was signed Monday evening.
“It is a big task to organize a Senior Euro, but I am sure that the Belgian federation will prove to all those who come that it is the ideal host for such an event,” declared Jimmy Andersen, general secretary- deputy of Badminton Europe. For the Belgian federation, it will be a double celebration since it will celebrate its 75th anniversary next year.
The Euro will be organized in the Heusden-Zolder Vélodrome, just inaugurated, from August 25 to 31. There will be five tournaments (men’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s singles, women’s doubles and mixed doubles) in nine age categories.
