Belgium Seeks Victory to Secure Top Spot in Group F

Qualified for the Euro since its 2-3 victory in Austria on Friday, Belgium will be assured of finishing at the top of Group F in the event of a victory against the Swedes. A first place which could allow the Red Devils to appear in pot 1 of the draw for the final phase.

“We now want to secure first place in the group and we want to do it tomorrow (Monday, editor’s note.) in front of our supporters. A big objective was achieved by validating our ticket for the Euro but the qualifications are not over,” said declared Tedesco on Sunday at a press conference at the National Football Center in Tubize.

Jan Vertonghen plans to continue after the Euro: “I decide in March or April 2024”

There is therefore no question for the Italian-German coach to take the match against the Swedes lightly. “We have no time to lose. We will still have two matches in November, but there will not be any big changes. These matches will of course serve us to test but above all to improve.”

The coach also returned to the qualification won in Austria on Friday. “I am very happy and very proud of the team. The situation was not easy when I arrived. Players from what you call the golden generation retired internationally. We had to build a new team. That made the task more complicated, but I am happy with our qualification in a difficult group,” concluded Tedesco.
