Beach volleyball: World Cup begins, passes to Paris 2024 in Mexico – Other Sports

The fourteenth edition of the Beach Volleyball World Championships will start tomorrow in Mexico (Tlaxcala, Huamantla and Apizaco). Whoever triumphs in Mexico will secure a place at the next Olympic Games in Paris 2024; the event will end on Sunday 15 October. There will be four Italian couples at the starting line, one in the women’s draw and three in the men’s draw.

Marta Menegatti and Valentina Gottardi, the number ten seeding couple, were included in Pool J together with the Americans Julia Scoles and Betsi Flint, the Austrians Dorina and Ronja Klinger and the Costa Rican couple formed by Kianny María Araya Quesada and Angel Williams Paniagua. The Italians will make their debut on Saturday 7 October against Costa Rica, and then face Austria and the United States.

Great expectations also for Paolo Nicolai and Samuele Cottafava: included in Pool H with the Spaniards Pablo Herrera and Adrián Gavira, the Australians Christopher McHugh and Paul Burnett and with the Mexicans Jorge Barajas and Gabriel Cruz Mendoza, the federal pair will make their debut on Saturday against Mexico, and then continue the group on Monday against Australia and Tuesday against Spain.

Iron group the one in which Daniele Lupo and Enrico Rossi will be involved; the Air Force athletes were in fact included in Pool A with the Norwegian reigning World and Olympic champions Anders Mol and Christian Sorum, with the Dutch Stefan Boermans and Yorick de Groot and with athletes from Mozambique Jorge Monjane and Ainadino Martinho. For Lupo/Rossi the World Cup debut is scheduled for tomorrow against the Netherlands (Norway on Saturday and Mozambique on Sunday).

Alex Ranghieri and Adrian Carambula, driving Pool E, will have to deal with the two Austrian teams made up of Julian Hörl and Alexander Horst and Robin Seidl and Moritz Pristauz, and against the Nicaraguan pair made up of Ruben Alejandro Mora Romero and Dany Antonio López Alvarado. The Azzurri will debut tomorrow against Nicaragua, then face Seidl/Pristauz on Saturday and Hörl/Horst on Monday.
