Barcelona’s Loaned Players: Mixed Success in the First Phase of the Season

This past summer, Barça loaned out six first-team players, five regulars and one who was starting to become one.. Lenglet (Aston Villa), Dest (PSV), Eric Garcia (Girona), Pablo Torre (Girona), Ansu (Brighton) and Julián Araujo (Las Palmas) They are having uneven luck on their teams in this first phase of the season. Some play and have an impact and others not so much. That’s how it goes. The club is providing personalized follow-up.

1

LENGLET/ASTON VILLA

Substitute without minutes

At the last moment, Barça managed to unblock the situation with Lenglet. The Barça club made official the central defender’s departure to Aston Villa on loan without a purchase option. He is a substitute and has not earned the title. He has not played in the four Premier League games and was not called up in the EFL Cup either. Only one game, a start in the Conference League playing 90 minutes and which ended in a 3-2 defeat against Legia Warsaw

2

ERIC GARCIA/GIRONA

Fixed holder

After many rumors about the future, Eric Garcia ended up getting what he wanted: leaving Barça in search of minutes and doing it at Montilivi. Barça has loaned him until June 30. Apart from the first match, when he was a substitute, the center-back has started with Michel in the remaining four. And not only that, he scored a header goal that gave the victory against Villarreal.

3

DEST/PSV

Regular holder

Dest is not doing badly at PSV either. He is getting the minutes he was denied in the last loan to Milan. Barça agreed with the Dutch club on a conditional purchase option, with a purchase option reserving a percentage of a future sale of the player. Undisputed starter in the two Champions League matches – he has played against Sevilla (2-2) – and the two in the previous qualifying rounds, he is also the starter in the Eredivise, although he was left out in the last two, perhaps for rest. 7 games and 582 minutes in total.

4

PABLO TORRE/GIRONA

Substitute with few minutes

Pablo Torre will defend Girona this season after the Montilivi club and Barça have reached an agreement for the loan of the Cantabrian midfielder until June 30, 2024. Unlike Eric, Pablo Torres has only participated in six of the eight games for Girona, never as a starter and playing a total of 88. Very little for now.

5

JULIÁN ARAUJO/LAS PALMAS

Almost fixed holder

Barça and UD Las Palmas agreed to a loan until June 30, 2024 without a purchase option so that the player can accumulate minutes and can finish exploding in Europe. So far, the right back has earned the position. 500 minutes in 7 games, almost always as a starter. He missed the last one against Celta due to some discomfort. García Pimienta has full confidence in him until now

6

ANSU FATI/BRIGHTON

A goal coming in as a substitute

Barça and Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club reached an agreement for the loan of the forward until June 30, 2024. There is no purchase option. Of the four games he has played, he has started in the EFL Cup. In all three of the Premier League games he has come on in the second half and scored a goal against Aston Villa.
