Athens begins a new stage and it will be this Saturday the 14th at 9 p.m. hosting Sportivo Suardi. This match will be the debut of both teams in the second category.
Atenas will play in the Argentine League after having always participated in the National League, while the Santa Fe team has just played in the Federal League, the third division of Argentine Basketball.
They never officially competed against each other, but a few weeks ago they met in the Super 8 Tournament, organized by the Córdoba Federation, with the Greek winning 88 to 84 in overtime.
It should be remembered that Atenas formed a totally new and aspirational team under the leadership of Gustavo Peirone. During his preparation he played a total of six friendlies with three wins and three losses.
Regarding the preseason and the debut, José Montero, the Greek’s new addition, assured: “The preparation, in my opinion, was very positive. There were several friendlies that allowed us to see what we had to improve and very positive things also appeared that we are going to to try to enhance them and repeat them. I think we arrived well physically, which is the most important thing in the preseason, and I also think that in the game we went from less to more, which leaves us calm because we know that during the season we can continue working and getting better”.
“The hours before the debut are lived with a lot of anxiety but at the same time calm because we arrive as we want to the first game of the season. We really want to show what we have been working on and enjoy being in a club like Atenas. We hope that the people join us because they are a very important factor for us and for the club.
At this start, Athens has three home games ahead of it, then two away games and another two home games, which are the games confirmed by the Club Association so far.
Finally, ticket sales are through the club’s page (How to buy my ticket) with a value of $2000 – general admission. On game day, one hour before, they will also be sold at the Carlos Cerutti Sports Center ticket offices.
