Without any contact between the AFA and the clubs, the Official Gazette was published confirming this news. Five days before the duel between the second-to-last teams in Zone A, the three teams were saved from losing the category.
The entity that regulates Argentine soccer explained: “In order to readjust the format for the 2024 competition, the regulations are modified with the elimination of the third relegation, thus generating a balance with an even number of participating teams.”

The modification of the Regulations of the 2023 First National Championship is provided, eliminating the third relegation provided for in the aforementioned regulatory body, which would be defined by the dispute of a revalidation match between the clubs that finished in 18th and 17th place in Zones A and B of the competition. This decision is motivated by the need to readjust the competition for the 2024 season with the participation of thirty-eight (38) clubs, balancing the development of the tournament with an even number of participants since, if the third relegation established in the regulations is sustained, The number of participants for the next season would be thirty-nine (39) clubs.
The relegation regime from the Professional Football League is maintained, as well as the promotion regime established for the Metropolitan First B and Federal A Categories. Consequently, the pertinent points of the 2023 First National Championship Regulations are worded as follows:
5 POSITION BREAKER
5.1 If at the end of the First Division Championship. Nacional 2023, two or more teams equal the score in any of the Zones referred to in Point 6 and 6.1 in relation to the 2 direct relegations, the provisions of art. 111 of the RG, which establishes the holding of tiebreaker match(es).

6 DESCENTS (TWO)
At the end of the 2023 First National Championship, the teams located in the last place in the 2023 Final Position Table of each of the Zones “A” and “B” will be directly relegated, those that will play in the following season , in First Division “B” and/or in the Federal Tournament “A”, as appropriate.
