When Antonin Valmy (26 years old) wins, the entire Dieppe Judo Club celebrates.

His teacher Bruno Delaunay is full of praise for this particularly committed judoka who takes classes with able-bodied people and does more than provide them with solid opposition.

Antonin Valmy (brown belt) is an example to follow.

The year is 2006. Antonin Valmy began practicing judo at the age of 9 at the Judo Club des Andelys (Eure), among the other children of the association.

Antonin progressed and joined JC Dieppe in 2016 when he was 19 years old.

Now a brown belt, he has just had a remarkable season in every way.

“It goes wonderfully with harai goshi”

Already a medalist several times in the French adapted sports judo championships, the JCD representative won a new French champion title on the occasion of his tenth participation in this event.

It’s no surprise for this boy who had already distinguished himself in Castres, Paris, Dax, Rouen, Paris, Mont-de-Marsan, Poitiers, Jurançon, Aurillac and Dole.

Before winning gold in the national championships, Antonin Valmy shone in the regionals of Caudebec-les-Elbeuf and then the interregionals.

Champion of France, he went on an internship in Vichy with the French Adapted Sports Federation, with a view to participating in the Global Games (a form of Olympic Games for disabled people who cannot participate in the Paralympic Games).

During these Global Games where he participated for the first time, Antonin Valmy won a new gold medal after dominating a Croatian rival in the final.

This rewards the commitment of this athlete who trains two to three times a week in the JC Dieppe dojo which is located at the Maison des Sports.

Like all French medalists from the Global Games, he also had the privilege of being received at the Élysée.

He was thus able to pose for a souvenir photo with the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron.

“Antonin (Valmy) is incredible,” underlines his teacher Bruno Delaunay. He is diligent in training, understands very quickly and performs certain movements like harai goshi (throwing technique using the hip) perfectly.”

There is no doubt that he has not finished surprising and now Antonin Valmy will tackle the passage of the black belt!
