Expected by Los Angeles journalists this Monday during the Lakers’ Media Day, Anthony Davis answered several questions concerning him, in particular on his durability which represents a sensitive subject every year in the City of Angels.
With Anthony Davis, it’s often the same refrain: when he’s on the floor, he’s one of the best two-way players in the NBA, but can he avoid the infirmary box?
During his NBA career, AD has experienced countless minor injuries, and his record for games played since joining the Lakers in 2019 is 62. This was during his first season in Los Angeles, the title one. From ? 36 games played in 2020-21, 40 in 2021-22, and 56 last year. Faced with these numbers, a reporter covering the Lakers asked him about his sustainability goals this year (via Swish Culture).

“Every year, my goal is to play 82 matches. I didn’t do anything different (compared to previous offseasons). I took a little rest, then went back to work, and now I’m ready to go.
Every year I want to play every game to help the team win. Especially with my role. I know I’m an important part of the team, and I know it helps us when I’m on the field.”
If it is difficult to imagine Anthony Davis having a full season, or even playing even 65-70 games given his injury history, it is clear that he represents a pillar of the Lakers’ success. When he’s healthy and playing at his best, both defensively and offensively, he makes Los Angeles a team that opponents don’t really want to face.
