An English footballer, accused of strangling his girlfriend, who jumped off the balcony to escape

Shaquille McDonalds was sentenced last week to two years and eight months in prison for the brutal attack on his then partner, Amy Beckley.

The events occurred last March, but until now the trial had not been held and the video capturing the beginning of the attack had not come to light.

The former footballer of teams like Derby County or the Birmingham City He had gone out to party with his girl but something went wrong and he forced her into a taxi. He hit her both before getting into the car and during the ride, and the worst part of it came once they arrived at the former player’s home.

Already in the apartment, McDonald, 28, grabbed Beckley, 29, a firefighter, tightly by the neck, after telling her, as she has stated: “I’m going to put you to sleep”.

The woman tried to get away from her attacker, without success, and escaped by the only possible way: jumping off the balcony.

Both arms broken

Amy Beckley jumped from the terrace that was four meters above the ground and broke both arms in her desperate escape.

It was she who also showed the injuries caused by McDonald and the ones he did while escaping from his attackerwho played for the semi-professional team Mickeleover Sports FC at the time.

They had only been dating for six weeks at the time of the attack, said Beckley, who remembers that until that day everything was “love and gifts”but everything changed when, on that night of partying, he saw her talking to a friend in the pub where they were.

According to her testimony, he approached her, threw her phone on the ground and accused her of being “a liar and a whore,” just before forcibly taking her to the taxi.

For her, the sentence of two years and eight months is not enough because, in her words, “he will be out in a few months and I will have to live with this forever.”

During the reading of the sentence, the Daily Mail reports, the judge assured that he accepted the “family’s comments” that spoke of McDonald as “someone talented and inspiring”but recommended that he “reexamine his attitude toward women and his atrocious jealousy.”
