Alwi Farhan Makes History as First Indonesian Men’s Singles Champion at 2023 Junior Badminton World Championships

Bola.com, Jakarta – Young Indonesian badminton player, Alwi Farhan make history. He won the men’s singles champion at the 2023 BWF World Junior Championships or 2023 Junior Badminton World Championships, Monday (9/10/2023) morning WIB.

Alwi Farhan who was only 18 years old, became the first Indonesian men’s singles player to become world junior champion. In the final match which took place at The Podium Arena, Spokane, Washington, USA, Alwi, who was the fourth seed, performed well.

With high self-confidence and never give up mentality. Having been left behind many times, Alwi was able to recover and become the champion after displacing the third seed from China, Hu Zhe An, with a score of 21-19, 19-21, 21-14 in a match lasting 65 minutes.

When Hu Zhe An’s return shuttlecock fell off the field, it finally confirmed Alwi as champion. Alwi ended his long-standing thirst and became the first Indonesian men’s singles representative as champion of the Junior World Championships since this event was officially held by the BWF in 1992.
