The 2020 Olympic champion has appealed and does not accept the punishment. The date for the main hearing is still pending.

The court points out: “The presumption of innocence applies until a final conviction is made. Only the court decides on the criminal conviction in a procedure regulated by the Code of Criminal Procedure.”

Zverev, who is currently dating model and actress Sophia Thomalla (33), had already been confronted with allegations of violence from his ex-girlfriend Olga Sharipova (24).

In the summer of 2021, the Olympic champion obtained an injunction in court that neither the Russian nor anyone else may continue to make such claims.

Zverev at the time: “The court followed our arguments and finds that the allegations made are defamatory and false. I categorically and unequivocally deny having abused Olga.”
