After a series of poor results, the Ajax Amsterdam club management hired their former coach Louis van Gaal as an advisor. The club announced this on Tuesday. Ajax is currently only in 15th place in the 18-club honor division and has not won a match since the opening weekend. Over 100 million euros were invested in additions.

Ajax finished third last season and missed out on qualifying for the Champions League for the first time in 13 seasons. With the now 72-year-old van Gaal as head coach, they won three championship titles and the Champions League in 1995. “I want to help Ajax, I would like to contribute my football knowledge,” van Gaal said in a statement. “We have to find the way up again.”
