AC Milan does not hide its gratitude to Olivier Giroud. This Saturday, the French striker took the place of Mike Maignan in added time of the match against Genoa, in Serie A (1-0). In a press release, the club welcomed the fact that “Olivier Giroud made club history by playing in goal with courage for the last minutes of the match. AC Milan decided to celebrate his performance by including it on our website, in the section reserved for goalkeepers and for a few days. It will be possible to buy the Giroud goalkeeper jersey with number 9.”
The French team also showed irony by presenting Giroud wearing the Blues jersey on X (ex-Twitter).
A performance praised by the Italian press
During his time in the cages, Giroud notably made a decisive exit to preserve the score. The Italian press praised his performance, like the “Gazzetta dello Sport” which presented him as “the architect of AC Milan’s victory”, while the “Corriere dello Sport” fired up for “the extraordinary Giroud who has a future as a goalkeeper”.
