Livorno 19 October 2023 – A whirlwind on the night of Thursday 19 October the roof of a building was exposed in the neighborhood Banditella damaging the school e auto. He has too felled trees. Luckily there was no injury to anyone. The tent structure of the tennis club was destroyed and the baseball field was also damaged.
Due to heavy rain, especially around 4 am, some roads are been flooded between via del Corona and via Galilei.
Traffic diverted
Flooded also the underpass of via Firenze with diverted road traffic. Being via Florence e via Provinciale Pisana blocked, a detour has been made from Via Firenze for those coming from the north towards Via Pian di Rota. Vehicles will be able to take via degli Acquaioli and then the variant to go south.

Mayor Luca Salvetti declared: “Throughout the night, given the orange weather alert, the civil protection kept under control all the canals and streams which did not create any particular alarm. The decision to close parks and schools for Thursday 19 October”.

Just before dawn Between Pisa and Livorno approximately 60 millimeters of rain fell in an hour. Problems also on the railway line after a section of the tracks ended up under water. The movement of trains has indeed suffered severe slowdowns with inevitable delays.
ùThe regional and Intercity trains connecting Livorno to Pisa have in fact recorded significant delays in some cases exceeding 60 minutes, even if the situation seems to be slowly returning to normal and the delays are now less than 30 minutes. Flooding also occurred at Livorno railway station with inconvenience for travellers.
