At the end of September, owner Dejphon Chansiri issued a statement in which he expressed dissatisfaction with the behavior of fans, specifically the insults directed at him and his family. He then announced that he was not going to invest any more in the club due to the lack of due respect.
Now it comes to light that Wednesday has big financial problems. The unpaid debt to the government agency HMRC resulted in a transfer ban coming into force last week when the payment deadline expired (October 23). Chansiri announced that he was unable to pay due to cash flow problems. For the same reason, it cannot pay the salaries of players and other club employees.
In an interview with “The Sheffield Star”, the Thai businessman explained how the delay affects the club’s situation. – If we do not pay HMRC by, say, November 5, it means that 14 days have passed since the original repayment date. And if (at the end of the month – ed.) we also do not pay the salary, it will be five days of delay, i.e. 19 days in total – he said . The terms run separately, but in terms of punishment they add up. When the total period is 30 days, the club will be subject to a transfer ban for three windows.

In this situation, Chansiri turned to the fans and suggested that they… start a fundraiser. – If 20,000 people donated £100 each, we would have £2m and it would be clear we could sort it out.
