Young Tennis Star Linda Nosková Faces Online Harassment and Stands Strong

At only eighteen years old, she already knew what the other side of tennis looked like. After Thursday’s painful defeat in Tokyo, Linda Nosková received a hateful message from an unknown anonymous. He even wishes her death. The tennis player published the message on social networks.

The native of Vsetina had a tough battle with the much more experienced Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. She tied the score in the second set, but even got a canary in the third set.

As if this was not enough of a lesson, another unpleasant surprise awaited her on her phone, an avalanche of hateful messages on Instagram from an unknown anonymous who calls herself “Tennis goat”.

“You have gambles and you’ll still lose. I wish you’d get cancer and die,” said the bettor, apparently disgusted by the Czech player’s defeat.

But Nosková took the whole thing with humor and published a copy of the phone screen with a smiling note “buddy”.

But the post caught the attention of some well-known tennis accounts, who stood up for the currently 44th player in the world.

“This is sickening to read. It’s sad that it’s becoming more common for athletes to deal with this kind of harassment on a daily basis. And Linda is only 18,” wrote The Tennis Letter’s Twitter account.

At the same time, the Czech tennis hope is going through a solid period. In the last phase of this year, she is fighting for the top forty ranking, even though it is only her first full season among adults.

Despite being eliminated in the round of 16 of the tournament in Tokyo, she should improve again in the ranking to somewhere around 42nd place.
