A delegation of 18 athletes from the “Yama Harashi” judo club recently traveled to represent our region to the Chile Hijuelas 2023 Open Championship, which took place in the same city in the province of Quillota, in the Valparaíso Region.
The judokas participated in this children’s and youth championship with formative characteristics thanks to the financial contribution of the children’s own families for the acquisition of air tickets plus the work and management of the club’s leaders and members that allowed adding more resources to through the holding of a bingo to cover accommodation, transportation and food during the days of stay in the host city.
TECHNICAL BODY
In addition to the athletes, the representation was made up of the coaching staff that included Constanza Candia, who has been actively working on the children’s training for two years now.
Sensei Oscar Hernández also traveled, who is the current person in charge of regional judo arbitration in Magallanes and had an outstanding participation as a judge of the contest.
In terms of sports, the main objective of the trip was met, which was to measure the capabilities of the Puntarenas boys and girls against their peers from other regions of the country.
But the delegation also stood out for its results, generally obtaining practically all the athletes second and third places, demonstrating the good level of judo that exists in our region and the great work that is being done in the minor series.
