Venezuela advanced to the final phase of the Women’s World Cup

With a gem from Frandelis García, Venezuela beat Puerto Rico 3-0 this Sunday at the close of the first phase of the Women’s Baseball World Cup to seal their pass to the next round.

Those led by Carlos Torres finished with a 3-2 record and took the third and last spot in Group B. Japan (5-0) and Chinese Taipei (4-1) secured first and second place, respectively.

Now they will meet in the final stage, Canada 2024, with the USA, Canada and Mexico, the qualifiers from Group A.

I made a cake of everything

Only five hits in 7.0 innings allowed Frandelis García to Puerto Rico’s slugging, while he walked only a couple and struck out five. Nobody stepped on his register and his effectiveness remained immaculate.

She made sure she was winning before taking the mound and, with a single to left field, she pushed the first line for the Creoles at the top of the first inning.

Venezuela added two more in the fifth to put final numbers thanks to a fly ball by Esquia Rengel and another unstoppable hit by Frandelis.

“I thank God for this opportunity to represent my country,” said García in statements reported on the website of the World Baseball and Softball Confederation.
“I had a lot of confidence in my team, in my manager Carlos Torres and, of course, in my arm,” he added.
Venezuela received its ticket to the 2024 Finals during the WBSC Ticket Punch ceremony.
