US star Biles at the World Cup in Belgium

Olympic champion Simone Biles is on the US Gymnastics Federation’s squad for the upcoming World Championships in Belgium and could achieve something historic there. The 26-year-old is taking part in a World Cup for the sixth time; no American has achieved this before her. For Biles, the return to Antwerp, where the World Championships take place from September 30th to October 8th, is something special: As a 16-year-old, she first won World Championship gold there in the all-around competition ten years ago.

If she wins another medal, she will become the most successful gymnast in history. With a total of 32 medals so far at the Olympic Games and World Championships, she is tied with Larissa Latynina from the former Soviet Union. Sunisa Lee, who became Olympic champion in Tokyo, is not taking part in Belgium for health reasons.
