Uruguayan Basketball Player Mathías Calfani Sidelined for Season with Torn Cruciate Ligament

This Tuesday, journalist Juan Pablo Tamborini announced through his Twitter account that Uruguayan basketball player Mathías Calfani suffered a torn cruciate ligament in his right knee that will keep him on the sidelines throughout the season with Obras Sanitarias, a team with that was going to play in the Argentine National League.

The injury occurred while playing a preseason friendly against Boca Juniors in La Bombonerita last Friday the 22nd. The 31-year-old power forward suffered this injury for the first time in 2020, when he was defending the Kawasaki Brave Thunders of Japan. He then suffered it again in April 2022 playing for Aguada, also in his right knee.

Although he was injured, Tachero hired him for last season to return to play only in February of this year. In total, he played twelve games in the Argentine tournament, in which he averaged 4.4 points and 2.7 rebounds. Furthermore, in August he defended the team again, playing in the Olympic Prequalifier, with 5 points and 5-3 rebounds in four games.
