Uijeongbu City Proposes ‘2024 Badminton Festival’ to Boost the Sport’s Popularity in Korea

Oh Seok-gyu (Democratic Party of Korea, Uijeongbu 4), a member of the Construction and Transportation Committee of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, met with officials for a new golden era for badminton in Korea.

On the 4th, Rep. Oh met officials such as Jeon Gyeong-hoon, chairman of the Korea Unemployed Badminton Federation, at the northern branch of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council, and was proposed to hold the ‘2024 Badminton Festival’ in Uijeongbu City.

Rep. Oh said, “I will consult with related organizations to hold the ‘Badminton Festival’ in Uijeongbu City, which combines elite sports and sports for everyday life.”

According to officials of the competition, the ‘(tentative name) 2024 Passionate Badminton Festival’ to be held in Uijeongbu is expected to attract the attention of badminton clubs nationwide with the participation of about 250 elite players from 22 teams.

In addition, 100 groups of club members will participate in ‘Beat the unemployed team!’ It is expected to stimulate unforgettable experiences and a sense of challenge as club members by facing the best badminton players in Korea. Photo zones will be set up inside and outside the stadium, and fan signing events will be held.
