Tkáč Shines in Match Against Slovaks and Sets Sights on European Qualification in Iceland

“I went to the pitch thinking I would really like to score. It happened very quickly. It made me nervous. It is great that we managed the match against the Slovaks and with the victory we got in the mood for Tuesday’s entry into the European qualification in Iceland. I think we did quite well offensively,” Tkáč smiled happily.

The centered ball tapped into the open goal from close range. “Such seemingly simple situations are often quite complex. But I concentrated on aiming accurately. It worked,” the Zlína midfielder rejoiced.

Tkač could have added a second goal. “Unfortunately, I fired into the middle of the goal,” he regretted a little. However, he could be satisfied with his performance. “I had a worse passage, during which I lost several balloons. But towards the end I went up again,” he said.

The successful match pleased him all the more because he had his closest friends in the audience of the Hradišť stadium. “Mom, dad and brother arrived. And friends too. Altogether, about twenty people cheered for me,” estimated Tkáč.

He left the field with much better feelings than last Saturday, when his Zlín fell in Uherské Hradiště in a league derby between close rivals 0:1 with Slovácko. “We didn’t succeed in the match here at the weekend. It was something completely different with the handyman. The pace was roughly the same as in the league, but it was more soccer-like,” he compared.

The weaver liked the great atmosphere. “It’s unbelievable that over four thousand spectators came to the friendly and cheered us on tirelessly. Hats off,” he thanked the fans from afar.

He did not dare to predict whether a successful match would help him to start on Tuesday in Iceland, where the young Czechs will already be looking for points in the qualifying group for advancement to the European Championship. “I wouldn’t like to evaluate that. It will of course depend on the coaches’ decision,” Tkáč knows well.

The match in Iceland will take place on artificial grass. “I haven’t played a competitive duel on it yet. I am very curious about it. We will now prepare for the artist until Sunday’s departure. We will see the Iceland game on video. I believe that we will be well prepared for the important match,” he hopes for a good start to the new qualification cycle.
