The case, which has not yet ended and is being investigated by the National Court, ended with Luis Rubiales outside the Royal Spanish Football Federation despite their initial resistance. This case has also served as an example in Cameroon to request the dismissal of Samuel Eto’o, current president of its Federation.
In a open letter to FIFAthe president of the Cameroon Professional Football League, General Pierre Semengue, and Henry Njalla Quan, former vice president of the Federation, among seven other people ask the highest football authority to follow the example he set with the Rubiales case and open the way to remove the former soccer player.
In fact, that letter begins by remembering Rubiales’ non-consensual kiss with soccer player Jennifer Hermoso. The signatories remember that before Luis Rubiales “had no other option but to throw in the towel”, FIFA imposed a 90-day suspension on the former president of the RFEF as a preventive measure.

Eto’o’s scandals at the head of the Cameroonian Federation
Next, they review all the controversies in which Samuel Eto’o has been involved. They remember, for example, that he refused to leave his post after admitting fraud to the Spanish Treasury and being sentenced to 22 months in prison and suspended from his duties for 5 years. Also that he attacked a ‘youtuber’ after the match between Brazil and South Korea at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022 or the signing of a personal sponsorship contract with a betting house. Likewise, they insist that the former footballer is involved in a case of fixing, in another serious violation against the statutes of the Cameroonian Football Federation that he presides.

For the signatories, the situations of Eto’o and Rubiales are “almost identical” and they criticize FIFA’s poor performance in both cases and ask it to “set an example.”
At the moment, it is not known that any moves have been made to initiate proceedings against Eto’o by FIFA. However, the Cameroonian Federation has called an extraordinary meeting for next October 10.
