South Sudan have won the only direct ticket for the men’s basketball tournament of the Paris Olympic Games allocated to the African zone, announced the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
The South Sudan team will travel to the Olympic Games after beating Angola 101-78 in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 on September 2 in Manila, Philippines.
“South Sudan had to wait a while but then they were able to let their joy burst when they learned of their qualification for the Paris Tournament 2024 as the highest ranked African team of this FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 […]. The festivities could begin as soon as the game between New Zealand and Egypt, as part of Group N, was won by the New Zealanders,” the body wrote on its official website.
