River Plate rescued a 1-1 draw against Banfield this Sunday in a match valid for the 6th. date of the League Cup, where he left a very poor image in terms of football, beyond the changes in the formation, ahead of the Superclásico against Boca Juniors next Sunday.

Pablo Solari put River ahead and Ignacio Rodríguez achieved equality for Banfield at the Florencio Sola.

With this result, River, which has not yet won as a visitor and has not won for seven games, reached 10 points and remains in the classification positions.

Banfield, which is fighting for permanence, reached seven units. With 37, he surpasses Colón by three (34), which is in the relegation zone according to the annual table.

The tie was too much for a River that generally played poorly, which was surpassed by Banfield and was sustained by the good performance of Franco Armani.

River, without Enzo Pérez or Nicolás De La Cruz, preserved for the Superclásico, had a discreet game that worsened with the modifications ordered by its coach, Martín Demichelis, in the first minutes of the second half.

Banfield came out with everything at the start of the first half and cornered River. In the first two minutes, “Taladro” had clear chances with a shot by Milton Giménez that demanded Armani, with a notable reaction, and with another attempt by Juan Bisanz that passed very close to the left post.

In that period, River did not stand up in defense. Matías Kranevitter suffered from the imbalance in the middle and Banfield was more sharp with each advance. A shot off the post by Juan Álvarez confirmed that trend.

Although Santiago Simón and Enzo Díaz suffered from the attack behind their backs on the sides, the former’s projection turned out to be a valid attacking option for River.

Solari, with a panorama, started the goal play when he gave way to Simón, who from the right wing launched the center into the area that was left for Rondón. The Venezuelan’s shot was cleared by Emanuel Coronel on the line, but the rebound fortuitously found the former Colo Colo of Chile for the 1-0 score.

Banfield sought to recover and regained prominence with the good work of Eric Remedi and the drive of Juan Bisanz.

Another save by Armani against Giménez deprived the local team of the tie they already deserved, while River showed fragility in defense.

The second stage maintained the intensity with the arrival of River, through a shot by Rondón, a good game, and the response from Banfield, which decisively sought equality.

Manuel Lanzini grew in the role of driver, but Martín Demichelis decided to leave him for an erratic Rodrigo Aliendro and River collapsed.

Shortly after, Banfield’s equalizer came through Ignacio Rodríguez (his first goal in the first division), which merited the intervention of the VAR, which determined that the ball entered in its entirety after a strong and well-placed shot to the left corner.

The play began with an error by Aliendro, the overflow by Coronel and a defective clearance by “Nacho” Fernández that was left for Rodríguez.

Immediately, Demichelis sent Facundo Colidio and Gonzalo Martínez to the field, on his return to River after almost five years, but Banfield, with the incisive entry of the young Gerónimo Rivera, was closer to the second with the covered one-on-one of Armani against Álvarez, after a bad start by Aliendro.

Banfield went for more against a River without answers, blurred, that was only supported by Armani and Paulo Díaz.

The “Millonario” only won one of its last 14 away games, where it suffered 6 draws and 7 losses.

On the next date, that of the classics, River will visit Boca and Banfield will host Lanús.
