Formula 1: Qualifying at the Singapore GP NOW in the live ticker
Before starting: The teams squint past the floodlights at a cloudy sky. Showers are forecast again and again this weekend and even thunderstorms on Sunday, although it seems to remain dry during the sessions. The probability of rain today is still 20 to 30 percent, but the rain radar is currently not showing any dangers.
Before starting: Fernando Alonso is likely to be disappointed with training today, at least, because after two placements in the top 10 he slipped to 13th place today. However, things still went better than teammate Lance Stroll, whose times would not have made it to Q3 once. Alex Albon, who has been regularly competing for points in recent weeks, is also surprisingly weak, but has so far staggered in 13th, 20th and 17th place in Singapore. On the other hand, Nico Hülkenberg’s development is really good, because he only achieved P17, then P11 and even P9 in the third training session.
Before starting: In addition to Ferrari and Red Bull, the Silver Arrows around Lewis Hamilton and George Russell as well as Lando Norris in the McLaren are of course also at the front. In the various sessions they always ranked between second and sixth place. This means that Q3 should definitely be possible and with a little luck we might even be able to make the big splash. Things went worse for the once again shaky Sergio Pérez. Two seventh places and P8 in the last session are not exactly a reaction to the recent fuss surrounding the Mexican.
Before starting: As already mentioned, both Ferraris drove to the front of the field in the first training session. Charles Leclerc beat Carlos Sainz by 0.078 seconds. In the second attempt, the traditional Italian team repeated their success, with Sainz and Leclerc swapping places. It was the Spaniard who set the fastest time in the third training session this afternoon. Although Leclerc fell back to fifth place, the Scuderia has become Red Bull’s biggest competitor.
Before starting: Max Verstappen has been rushing from success to success for weeks. The demonstrations of force usually begin with the first training session and continue throughout the entire weekend. But the Dutchman seems to have problems in Singapore. In the first training session he had to give way to the two Ferraris before Verstappen even fell back to eighth place in the second training session. Even in the third session it was only enough for the fourth fastest time, which is why another pole is in serious danger for the two-time world champion.
