Pierīga’s men’s floorball teams won three victories in four games in the Latvian Super League and First League matches held over the weekend. Two clubs from Ķekava and one from Ulbroka were successful, but “Saulkalne” from Salaspils region lost.
The second success in a row at the beginning of the season was celebrated on Saturday evening by the team of floorball school “Masters”/Ulbroka, which convincingly beat “Bauska” at home. At the end of the first period, Ulbrokians still lost 2:3, but ended the second period already with 11:3 in their favor and the whole game – 18:5. Almost all the home team’s players scored points, the most were Rolands Kovalevskis (7+1), Toms Bitmanis (1+3), Tomas Kristofers Birstiņš (3+0), Edijs Šenberg (1+2) and Matīss Kristiāns Morozovs (0 +3).
After losing to Ulborki in the opening match of the championship, the first victory was won by the “Ķekava/RB&B” unit, which beat “Irlava” 8:7 in overtime. After a successful first period (3:0), the Kekavians lost several times in the third period (4:5, 5:6, 6:7), but less than four minutes before the end of the regular time, they equalized and Markus Januševkis scored the winning goal in the sixth minute of overtime. This was his second accurate broadcast in the game, Klaavs Jansons stood out with a “hat trick”.
“Ķekavas Bulldogs” floorball players started the Latvian first league championship with a victory on Saturday, who hosted the team of the “Slampe”/”Zevid” sports club. In the course of the match, the score was tied five times, until 79 seconds before the end of regular time, Kristofer Jurison scored the decisive goal (with two assists) – 7:6. Martins Brazovskis scored three goals for the Bulldogs.
On the other hand, the floorball club “Saulkalne” in the first game of the season, visiting the neighbors of the FK “Ogre”/”VT Timber” team, unsuccessfully played the second third when they conceded five goals in a row and could not fight back – 5:9. Erik Akulov has three points (1+2).
