Pedro Díaz Coello School of Sports Initiation Begins New School and Sports Year with High Hopes and Goals

With the arrival of September, the Pedro Díaz Coello School of Sports Initiation School (Eide), in Holguín, becomes a festival of reunions, dreams and goals to fulfill, as it begins a new school and sports year, in a center where the individual and collective goals each year must be higher.

This Monday, September 4, the student-athletes and the faculty and coaches of the sports school will resume their activities; others will face the demands of high-performance sport for the first time, with their eyes on Olympus and the vision of touching glory like many outstanding figures trained in that facility.

Yodalkis Espinosa Preval, director of the Eide, assured that the enrollment of the school is 820 students and will be open until Tuesday, September 5, with the aim of forming the selections of the 31 sports that will be practiced in the giant athlete trainer from the province.

The school’s sports facilities have the minimum essential conditions to carry out the planned activities and everything is ready to begin the new teaching stage.

The purposes of this course will be focused on improving the eighth place of the last contest, when there were no national champion sports and only the water polo school women’s team and mixed judo by team, were able to be crowned in their respective competitions, added the former judoka and currently martial art referee

The beginning of the new school period will have as additional motivation, the celebration of the 47th anniversary of the creation of the Holguin Eide, a center that has trained several Olympic, world, Pan-American and Central American champions, since it was founded on September 5, 1976.

At the opening, there will be a welcome ceremony led by students and teachers, where political and governmental authorities of the territory will be present, as well as representatives of the sport of the National Directorate and relatives of the young people.

The activity will be propitious for new economic actors in the province to donate sports resources to the school, with the aim of reducing the deficiencies that the sector has in the country, one of the most affected by the impact of the Blockade imposed on us by the government of the United States.

The complexities facing the nation deprived several specialties of competitive events last year, a difficulty that also affected the results of the Holguin delegation in the previous edition of the National School Games.

For the new season, the strategies must be modified if they intend to improve the eighth national position, a location that does not correspond to one of the most populated provinces and with the best infrastructure in Cuba.
