Orlando Magic Signs Puerto Rican Guard Alexander Morales to ‘Exhibit 10’ Contract

Puerto Rican shooting guard Alexander Morales signed an “Exhibit 10” contract with the Orlando Magic, President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced today. Per team policy, terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.

This would mark the second contract of this type for Morales since last fall he had the same opportunity with the Magic, but was cut before the season began. The clause in this type of contract makes the player receive a bonus worth up to $75 thousand if he is released before the start of the season, it can also be converted into a two-way agreement where he would be participating in the affiliate team of the G League.

Currently, the Magic roster is already complete, with 21 players under contract, which is the maximum in the offseason. That number will be reduced from approximately 18 to 15 players with standard contracts and three two-way contracts when the regular season begins, where the Puerto Rican would have a chance to debut in the NBA.

The 25-year-old ‘combo guard’ debuted this year in the National Superior Basketball (BSN) with the Manatí Bears where he averaged 16.1 points with 7.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game, putting himself in the conversation to win the rookie of the year award.
